At last, a childcare center that offers Excitement, Learning & Physical Activity all under one roof.
Growing Great Learners Active offers a unique style of childcare. We value physical activity and believe that children do their best in a stimulating environment. Our children gain a foundation of health and wellness that they can take with them for the rest of their lives. We treat everyone with respect and value communication between our staff and families.
We first opened in NE Portland in 2011 as an in home daycare. In November 2014, we expanded to a much larger facility in SE Portland.
Our goal is to have a fusion between in home and center base childcare. We value what in home childcare can offer but we also know it can be limiting for services and activities. This expansion has given us the ability to offer your child an active daycare experience along with their academic learning. We believe that physical wellness is an important aspect of a child’s development and so it has become embedded in our daily schedule. Our kids are always on the move, whether it is jumping jacks, exercise bands, sports, or kid yoga!
Our motto has always been “Growing Great Learners, where lifetime learning begins.”
Hi, my name is Kelby. I have experience working with children as an AVID tutor, playcare provider and elementary school and OMSI volunteer. Additionally, I have two young children of my own. I’m currently a student at Concordia University. I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education in 2017. I love working with children, and watching them learn, grow and develop. I truly feel as though teaching and working with children is what I was meant to do.
I have provided care and guidance for young children in many fulfilling capacities- as a respite provider for special needs foster care children, as a foster parent, as an assistant in a home based child care center and as a head teacher in a child care center in a homeless women’s shelter. I enjoy offering a nurturing and calm environment for your child’s earliest years, and value the attachment and bond that is create as a result.

I can’t imagine doing any other type of work.
Hi, my name is Kelli. I have worked as a special needs educational assistant, nanny, personal caregiver and Playworks coach. I graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Business. I enjoy working with children because they keep you on your toes and their level of energy is fascinating. I love to see children develop into their own individual personalities. The educational field is an incredible and awarding profession to be in.
